Esta data também é comemorada na França, onde aconteceu a “Tomada da Bastilha” em Paris, no ano de 1789, eclodindo a Revolução Francesa. As origens dessa revolução tinham como base a filosofia de Rousseau que era vegetariano. Sob o lema “Liberdade, Igualdade e Fraternidade”, muitos aderiram também ao Vegetarianismo. Na Inglaterra, os defensores dos animais apoiaram a França, tais como Joseph Ritson que esteve em Paris, Sir Richard Phillips e John Oswald. De acordo com a especialista feminista e vegana, professora Carol Adams, este participou diretamente da Revolução Francesa e escreveu ” O Grito da Natureza“, ou “Um Apelo à Misericórdia e à Justiça em Nome dos Animais Perseguidos” (1791), sendo considerado “o primeiro livro britânico de sua época a advogar o Vegetarianismo”, segundo a professora.

É importante ressaltar que muitas mulheres se destacaram na Revolução Francesa, a exemplo de Olympe de Gouges que publicou, também em 1791, a “Declaração dos Direitos da Mulher e da Cidadã“.

Cidade Presépio /“City Crib”("City of the Nativity Scene")

A “Cidade do Sol”, epíteto atual para Natal, Capital do Rio Grande do Norte, teve início em 6 de janeiro (Dia de Reis Magos) no ano de 1598, com a construção do Forte dos Reis Magos. A arquitetura da fortaleza, em formato de estrela, faz alusão à Estrela de Belém, também chamada de Estrela de Natal e Estrela-Guia que revelou o Nascimento de Jesus aos Reis Magos e, posteriormente, guiou-os até Belém, onde nasceu o Menino Deus. A Cidade do Natal, oficialmente fundada em 25 de Dezembro (Dia de Natal) de 1599, foi também conhecida antigamente como “Cidade Presépio”, pela linda iluminação noturna, comparada com um Presépio Natalino.

"City of the Sun", the epithet for Natal, Capital of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, began on January 6 (Three Kings' Day) in 1598, with the construction of the Fort of the Three Wise Men.
