Homenagem à inesquecível professora Iolanda Trindade da Silva, nascida em Natal / RN, em 28 de dezembro: / Tribute to the unforgettable teacher, Iolanda Trindade da Silva, born in Natal / RN, on December 28:

       Oração criada pela bondosa Professora Iolanda que se dedicou ao ensino, alfabetizando inúmeras crianças.

        Lecionou durante a década de 1970 na Escola Estadual Severino Davi, localizada na Ribeira, em Natal, capital do Rio Grande do Norte.

     A ela a nossa gratidão! Uma homenagem apropriada para alguém tão especial, a minha querida mãe, Iolanda Trindade da Silva, que além de ser funcionária pública federal, lecionou com amor e dedicação às filhas e filhos dos(das) funcionários(as) da antiga RFFSA, Rede Ferroviária Federal, em Natal/RN.  Foi pioneira, pois introduziu o lanche vegano para as crianças da Escola Severino Davi. Todas se deliciavam com o lanche preparado com carinho, em especial a salada de frutas.

    Com relação aos esportes, na juventude participou brilhantemente da ginástica rítmica da Escola Normal, do Atheneu, da Escola Augusto Severo, da Escola Doméstica e do Colégio Nossa Senhora das Neves, onde estudou. E, antes de se casar, também participou   de “dramas”, peças teatrais estudantis, realizadas à Rua Voluntários da Pátria, Cidade Alta, em Natal, RN. Cantava e dançava no estilo de Carmem Miranda, tendo aulas de sapateado flamenco e norte-americano com o Professor Uchoa, estrangeiro (da Marinha), que também lhe ensinou a tocar as castanholas da Espanha.

    Quanto às artes manuais, era criativa e talentosa: confeccionava lindos arranjos de flores artificiais em cestas que fabricava, trançando os fios de plástico. Quanto às flores, primeiro moldava as pétalas (feitas de tecidos específicos) com instrumentos apropriados; depois, cobria os arames, dando forma aos “caules”, com papel verde (crepom) e, então, encaixava as outras partes que compunham a flor – pistilos, cálice e folhas. Costumava inventar brinquedos com que me presenteava quando eu ainda era menina, em especial as miniaturas de móveis, feitas por ela mesma, com caixinhas de fósforo e também confeccionava pássaros de origami (arte oriental que consiste em fazer dobraduras de papel, formando pequenas esculturas). Lindas artes manuais, delicadas e feitas com capricho e amor!

      Na “Cidade do Sol” (Natal/RN), minha mãe, Iolanda, tinha como hobby cantar. Inclusive durante o expediente, na RFFSA, trabalhava cantarolando as músicas de sucesso daquela época. Foi convidada, então, pelo Sr. Lago, conhecido da nossa família Trindade e do Trio Irakitan, para cantar na Rádio Poti. Este conjunto, vocal e instrumental, frequentava a casa dos meus avós (Maria das Dores Silva Trindade e Miguel Trindade Filho), fazendo serenatas, serestas e participando dos aniversários da Família Trindade na Cidade Alta, bairro antigo de Natal/RN. Muitos elogiavam-na, dizendo que sua linda voz era suave como o canto do pássaro Rouxinol. Pouco tempo depois, conheceu o meu pai, Dr. Walter Chaves da Silva, na época Professor Universitário e estudante de Medicina. Casaram-se em Natal, outrora conhecida também como “Cidade Presépio” e então vieram residir no Rio de Janeiro. Ele carinhosamente a chamava de “Rouxinol”.

Prayer created by the kind Professor Iolanda who dedicated herself to teaching, educating countless children.

She taught during the 1970s at Severino Davi State School, located in Ribeira, in Natal, the capital of Rio Grande do Norte.

To her, our gratitude! A fitting tribute to someone so special, my dear mother, Iolanda Trindade da Silva, who, in addition to being a federal public employee, taught with love and dedication to the children of the employees of the former RFFSA, Federal Railway Network, in Natal/RN. She was a pioneer, as she introduced vegan snacks for the children at Severino Davi School. All the children delighted in the snacks prepared with care, especially the fruit salad.

In terms of sports, in her youth, she brilliantly participated in rhythmic gymnastics at Normal School, at Atheneu, at Augusto Severo School, at Domestic School, and at Colégio Nossa Senhora das Neves (Our Lady of the Snows College), where she studied.

And before getting married, she also participated in "dramas," student plays performed on Rua Voluntários da Pátria, Cidade Alta, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. She sang and danced in the style of Carmen Miranda, taking Flamenco and American Tap Dance lessons with Professor Uchoa, a foreigner (from the Navy), who also taught her to play the spanish castanets.

        Regarding manual arts, she was creative and talented: she created beautiful arrangements of artificial flowers in baskets she made by braiding plastic wires. As for the flowers, she first shaped the petals (made from special fabrics) with appropriate tools; then she covered the wires, shaping the "stems," with green crepe paper, and then fitted the other parts that made up the flower—pistils, calyx, and leaves. She used to invent toys that she gave me as gifts when I was still a girl, especially miniature furniture, which she made herself, with matchboxes, and she also made origami birds (an oriental art that consists of folding paper to form small sculptures). Beautiful handicrafts, delicate and made with care and love!

       In the "City of the Sun" (Natal, Rio Grande do Norte), my mother, Iolanda, had a hobby of singing. She even sang the hit songs of the era during her workday at RFFSA. Then, she was invited by Mr. Lago, an acquaintance of our Trindade Family and the Irakitan Trio, to sing on Rádio Poti. This vocal and instrumental ensemble would frequently visit my grandparents' house (Maria das Dores Silva Trindade and Miguel Trindade Filho), performing serenades, and attending the Trindade Family's birthday parties in Cidade Alta, an old neighborhood in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. Many praised her, saying her beautiful voice was as soft as the song of the Nightingale. Shortly thereafter, she met my father, Dr. Walter Chaves da Silva, then a University Professor and Medical student. They married in Natal, formerly known as "Cidade Presépio" ("Nativity Scene City") and then moved to Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). He affectionately called her "Nightingale."
